There are some user wav's that can be made by the user. "announcestart.wav" = Your Amateur Radio Call. When the "announcestart.wav" plays, your call will be displayed In Waterfall. An announcestart Wav can be made by a Text Generator such as the one DigTrx Uses You can play it to get an idea by playing back the " digzbzid.wav " file in the Apps Folder of DigTrx. The wav file also plays at the beginning of the BSR and FIX. The Announcestart.wav is intended to be one line, if not then the picture TX will start before it is completed. This does not really matter as the header is quite long. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Version Update 10DEC05 "Send text to Repeater waterfall" added. (there was a problem with F12 function ] -------------------------------------------------------- Version Update 07SEPT05 Individual directories of the load routines are now remembered correctly ------------------------------------------------------- Version Update 06SEPT05 1. Bug with "user wav" is fixed. 2. A small change to increase stability. 3. An RX progress bar shows while receiving a file. The bar's length is proportional to the file size. As the file is being received, good segments will paint green. One can visually see where the bad segments are. On a slow computer, especially if "progressive" is ON, some segments will show bad, even though they are OK. A max of 768 segments can be displayed. If more are sent, then they will be off the screen. 4. Multiple sound cards may be used. This is not for the faint hearted and will not satisfy all requirements. Read the instructions carefully after selecting. It might go some way to help. The wav files will always be played on the wav out of the windows default card (cannot be selected). Hampal data will send on any selected wav output device. So weird results will be experienced if the mix is not correct. 5. Signal level display has been smoothed. 6. Several other small bugs have been addressed. If in repeater mode, you might notice a red pixel at screen (1,1) while in TX. This is for interaction with another program and has no effect on HamPal itself. Erik --------------------------------------------------------- Version Update 01Sept05 Cleared problem with repeater instabilty Added self contained Picture Editor Right CLick Either for edit or effects -------------------------------------------------------- Version Update 26Aug05 1. Erik: -------------------------------------------------------- Version Update 18Aug05 Contains Windows Style Help Functional Full Screen Option Repeater Function ----------------------------------------- Version Update 24July05 ---------------------------------- Improved Full Screen ViewWith the full screen I have made a small change. All pictures small or very large now fill the screen (true full screen). I am not sure about this as very small pictures look pretty bad if blown up this much, but the mob seems to like it. I can change it back easily. To escape the full screen just press ESCAPE or click with the mouse. Corrupt files will now display full and you can select full screen any time, even during a progressive display. Tiddied up a bit Erik -------------------------------------------------------- Version Update 22July05 Added Session Log Automatic Plus Log Notes- Auto resets on each Startup (new session) Added Custom User Wavs Uses same method to make as before Found some bugs and repaired. Erik -------------------------------------------------------- Version Update 16July05 Added the ability to Set Max # Of Pictures per Folder Erik -------------------------------------------------------- Version Update 14July05 Added The Ability to Limit Picture Files Saved in Folders. Also repaired some bugs Erik ------------------------------------------- Version Update 10July05 Full Screen Feature Has Been Added The "Full Screen" button will give a full screen display of the present picture. Press ESC to exit. The program will automatically exit if a new picture is received. The RX picture may be displayed first at FULL SCREEN. Select this from the Setup menu. Several other bugs were removed and a few small additions. 1. A warning appears if the user has a screen resolution less than 1024*768. 2. An extra protection against IrfanView failures. You may notice one instance will remain in the processes. This is now normal and is closed on program shutdown. 3. The default on bootup is "one instance" (not IrfanView) This setting was previously remembered and was causing confusion with new users when they accidentally clicked more than one instance and wondered why the send time was so high. ============================================ Version Update 07July05 This Version will not Expire this appears Stable and like others IRfanview when using progressive " mode may cause a problem " 1. When "overwrite warning" appears, a choice to save with a different name is available. 2. When the received file is an exe, bat, scr, pif etc, the program will not autorun these files for obvious reason. 3. When loading an "ANY FILE" which is txt, doc, mht, htm, html etc, a preview appears. 4. Several bugs removed. Erik. ---------------------------------- Version Update 06July05 ---------------------------------- Fixed problem with Sending & Receiving BSR Some Bug Fixes Erik, --------------------------------- Version Update 05July05 --------------------------------- Added Hot-Keys Look under Action then F Keys Fixed User.Wav Function Bug fixes Erik, ------------------------------ Version Update 03July05 ------------------------------ 1. Time of TX is now displayed after the TX filename. This is approximate, the calculations are quite involved. 2. A new "UserWav" directory is now made on program bootup. Put your favorite wav files for instant transmission here (Ident, good copy, bad copy, have a good day or even music). When you click the "User.wav" button, the directory and wav files are displayed. Just double click the desired wav and it will be transmitted. Erik. -------------------------------- Version Update 16J un05 --------------------------------- 1. Last RX Thumbnails will now save animated gif''s. 2. A choice to use JPG compression when preparing pictures for TX. The major change is in the use of JPG compression. This is really for the advanced user as it will only be successful if it is known when to use it. For that reason, the program always wakes up with JP2 compression as default. JPG compression is really only worthwhile if the file is 20-40K in size. This means its main use is with QAM 64. When JPG compression is selected from the menu, the filesize slider bar will show "Quality" as a percentage. Regardless of the actual picture dimensions, the amount of compression allowed before noticeable jpg corruption becomes noticeable is about the same. 30% will cover almost all pictures, some will still be OK at 10%. However, if 30% is chosen and the original picture has a file size of 1M, then the result is a file size of about 300k, far too high. So to keep file size under control without reducing the quality, the picture dimensions are reduced. I found that reducing dimensions to the HamPal full screen size of 768*548 resulted in the jpg always being 20K +- a relatively small amount. So, if jpg is selected, look at the resulting picture and reduce the quality till it starts to become noticeable. I would suggest 30% and just accept a longer send time. ------------------------------------------------------- So, what are the advantages of using JPG. ------------------------------------------------------- 1. No matter how large the picture file is, it is very fast preparing the picture for TX. 2. jp2 compressed pictures produce greater detail in some areas (auto detected by the program), and sacrifice the rest of the picture as blurry. this is excellent for highly compressed files. However, the blurry part may be important to be seen, and jpg will give the same attention to detail over the entire screen. So some parts will be better and some parts worse. Some pictures look very much better in jpg, most don't. 3 We have found over here that some pictures are very much better in jpg. The jpg pictures also respond better to a slight sharpening. I have inbuilt this as automatic into the program. The average user will see no benefit with jpg, but the experimenter will soon find many occasions to use i t. ------------------------------------ Version Update 11Jun05 ----------------------------------- Added Text Editor and Specail Effects !!
