CYGWIN - Fast decoder for DIGTRX


DIGTRX decoding is performed by the Win32 Console Application program WAV2BIN.EXE. This program was compiled using a Microsoft Windows "C" compiler with "C" source code that included extensive debugging code. The original LINUX "C" code has much less overhead. Bob, K9SQL has compiled this LINUX "C" code under CYGWIN. CYGWIN is a DLL program that will allow LINUX compiled code to run within Windows. Reported improvements in decoding time has been up to five times faster. (Comparing a worst case without to a best case with CYGWIN.)

CYGWIN - Unzip and install


After downloading "CYGWIN.ZIP", unzip "CYGWIN.ZIP", and move all the files created from unzipping into the "DIGTRX" folder. The existing RXZBZ.BAT batch file will be overwritten and replaced. DIGTRX is ready for faster decoding !



Using CYGWIN


The CYGWIN compiled file "Wyman1x-demod-decode.exe", does the decoding using the "cygwin1.dll" to handle the translation. The batch file RXZBZ.BAT has been modified from what was originally in DIGTRX to call on the alternative decoder. This arangement is experimental and caution is advised in its use. So far only one known problem exists. Decoding of files larger than 36K (380 seconds) will fail to decode.



Temporary files


Transmissions that result in one or more bad blocks will leave many temporary files in the DIGTRX folder. These files are automatically deleted by the latest version of the RXZBZ.BAT batch file using the added line:
del *.???0??
