WinDRM - Adjusting Input Level

WinDRM - HF Digital Radio Mondiale is the Digital Voice and Data Transfer program by HB9TLK. It is based on the DREAM voice encoding program. The program is under developement and still being tested. The program is designed to run on Windows XP.

WinDRM requires careful adjustment of the input level for successful reception. The first step is selecting the Input Level Display.

Here is how the Input Level Display is selected:

[input level]

Input Level Display mode selected

This is how the Input Level should appear with an incoming DRM signal:

[input level]

Note that the amplitude averages near the height of the "TUNE" button.

If your display is much different in signal amplitude, some adjustment of the input level may be necessary for a more reliable reception. One way is by bringing up the Windows "Recording Control" and moving the slider for the selected input source.

An SNR of 10 is required for a successful receive of 16 QAM. 64 QAM requires an SNR of 20 or more.
